After 14 years in the industry, including 4 years as a freelancer, I've always dreamed of having my own studio space.
For most people starting out, it's often a room in your house, usually the smallest box room. For the first 3 years on my own, that was my situation!
I had a sewing setup in the box bedroom, struggling with the limited space while trying to keep enough room for large skirted bridal dresses and other projects.
Fortunately, this year, that dream came true!... With a little push from knowing we have our first baby due February 2025 and in need of the bedroom now!
After purchasing our home, we were fortunate to have a large garden, and adding a studio didn't take away too much space, allowing us to still enjoy the main area as a family.
My husband and his dad, both in the construction industry, took on the challenge of building this project.
It was incredibly difficult for them working just as a duo with lots of heavy elements to deal with, but as a family we are all amazed by their accomplishment.
From digging the foundation to assembling the structure like a flat pack, these guys have been unstoppable! It took several weekends from summer to winter, but they managed to create a space for my clients that is not only spacious but also private and comfortable.
I am excited to be able to now invite people into this space.
From autumn 2025 after my maternity leave, my books will be back open ready to see winter brides and begln to see 2026 brides.
